EUFLEXXA is used to relieve knee pain caused by osteoarthritis. Specifically, it is used in patients where simple pain medications or exercise and physical therapy are unable to provide sufficient pain relief.
How does Euflexxa work and how long does it last for?
Euflexxa is a form of hyaluronic acid (HA) and is used to relieve knee pain due to osteoarthritis.
HA is a natural substance found in the fluid that surrounds a healthy knee.
This fluid is called synovial fluid, and it helps cushion, lubricate, and protect the knee.
In people with osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee, the synovial fluid becomes thinner and less able to do its job.
Who should not use Euflexxa?
Anyone with a knee joint infection.
Anyone with any sort of skin disease at the injection site.
What are the associated side effects?
Minor side effects such as mild swelling and redness at the site of injection are common.
Effects should not persist or become bothersome.
